Jack Ruffert, age 91, of Gillett, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in Gillett. Born on September 13, 1925 in Milwaukee, Jack is the son of the late Max and Vera (Weber) Ruffert. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, serving our country in the South Pacific aboard the USS Shamrock Bay until his honorable discharge on May 20, 1946. On September 20, 1947, Jack was united in marriage to Betty J. Londre in Green Bay, WI. The couple was inseparable, they lived in West Allis and Jack worked as a lithographer at W.A. Krueger for over 20 years. In 1975, they purchased land on Pensaukee Lake and slowly built "Ruffert's Paradise" where they vacationed until moving there permanently in 1985 after retirement. Jack was "the most perfect man in the world" according to Betty, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. He was also a skilled gardener and drummer.
Jack is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Betty; one son, Jack A. (Robin) Ruffert of Cecil; and his grandson, Christopher Ruffert of Shawano.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Herb, Max, Marv and Donald.
A memorial service for Jack will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with Chaplin Ron Urmanski officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
