Jack Francis Tinsman, age 88, of the Town of Wescott, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at a local nursing home. Born on June 13, 1926 in the Town of Underhill, he was the youngest of ten children born to the late Frank and Bessie (Tyrel) Tinsman. After receiving his diploma, Jack was drafted into the Army Air Force as a gunner during World War II. On December 7, 1945 he was united in marriage to Phyllis M. Garska in Chicago. Jack worked for the Federal Aviation as an air traffic controller. He also did crop dusting, fixed airplanes and was a pilot. Jack was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil as well as a member of FFA and EAA. Jack is survived by: his wife, Phyllis; a daughter, Jacky (Albert) Popp of Shawano; a grandson, Wade (Jenny) Popp; and a great-granddaughter, Bethany Popp. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with the Rev. Luke Ferris officiating. Entombment will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by the Shawano V.F.W. Post #2723. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Jack's name for the Shawano County Humane Society.
