Jacob Andrew Thorne, age 22, of Bonduel, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 9, 2016, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jacob was born in Shawano on May 9, 1994, the son of Shawn Thorne and Shelly (Wozniak) Thorne. Jacob graduated from Bonduel High School and was currently attending Fox Valley Technical College to become an auto mechanic. Basketball was Jacob's first love. He was a member of the Bonduel Bears conference championship team as a senior and went on to play college basketball at Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. He was recently an assistant coach for the Bonduel Bears JV basketball team and a former coach for the 7th and 8th grade teams. Jacob's second love was definitely Sun-Drop, he brought it with him wherever he went. He always had a twelve pack of Sun-Drop in the bed of his truck as well as one in the front seat and one next to his bed. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and loved working on the farm. Jacob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel.
Jacob is survived by: his mother, Shelly (Todd Boardman) Thorne of Bonduel; his father, Shawn Thorne of Bonduel; one brother, Matthew Thorne; two sisters, Avery and Grace Thorne; and his grandparents, Phil and Marlene Wozniak of Gillett and Milton and Yoggie Laabs of Gillett.
A funeral service for Jacob will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, May 13, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Timothy Shoup officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 2:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Jacob's name.
