James A. "Jim" "Jimso" Caldwell, age 76, of Shawano, passed away on May 22, 2016.
Jim was born in Keshena on October 24, 1939 to the late Leslie and Marjorie (Boyd) Caldwell.
On November 15, 1958, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Splitgerber.
In his younger days, he was a well-known Golden Gloves AAU boxer.
He was awarded the Barney Ross Trophy for sportsmanship, and participated in the Goodwill Boxing Tour in Europe. Jim retired from Menominee Tribal Enterprises after 40 years of employment.
Prior to working at MTE, Jim worked at AOS Smith & Caterpillar, Inc.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, working in the yard, and taking care of his dogs, Babie and Coco.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with his great-grandchildren, Riley and Cashton.
Jim is survived by:
his wife, of 57 years, Patricia; their daughter, Debbie (Gary) Polum of Shawano; grandchildren, Tracy (Mike Recore) Caldwell of Appleton and Tyler Polum of Shawano; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Cashton Recore; one sister Stella Tylke; one brother, Colin (Bobbie) Caldwell; his sisters-in-law, Myrna Caldwell and Connie Splitgerber, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marlene and Vera Caldwell and one brother, Melvin Caldwell, and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Splitgerber.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Ted Andrada officiating.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
