"Jim" Carroll
February 23, 1939 – September 17, 2024
James H. "Jim" Carroll, age 85, of Gresham, passed away on Tuesday September 17, 2024, in Appleton. Jim was born on February 23, 1939, in Shawano to the late Arthur and Ursula (McNutt) Carroll. He proud served in the United States Navy stationed in Vietnam from 1957-1961. On September 1, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Karen Lee Lamberies at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. The couple spent a wonderful 60 years together before Karen's passing in 2023. After working in construction, he found his passion in becoming a lineman for 35 years. In Jim's free time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was an avid outdoorsman and love to go hunting and fishing. Jim was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and the Gresham American Legion Post #390.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Theresa Carroll and Lisa (Lee) Bartz; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Kristin (Toad), Kyle, Leeann, Collin (Rachelle), Kent (Sam), Remington, Lindsay (Rigo); 19 great-grandchildren, Waylon, Carlos, Katie, Diego (Koda), Tristin, Eliza, Adrian, Kaylee, Lyte, Rigo, Starlito, Easton, Skie, Leilah, Jaxon, Charlee, Jeovonni, Jaime, Amelia; great-great-grandchild, Camden; sisters, Stella Hayes and Jean Carroll; sister-in-law, Opal Carroll; and brother-in-law, Daniel Stoehr. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Karen; daughter, Jamie; siblings, Laura, Catherine, Patricia, Arthur and Mattie; and parents, Arthur and Ursula.
A funeral service for Jim will be held at 11:00 am on Friday September 20, 2024, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with Fr. Timothy Machila officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Gresham American Legion Post #390. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service.
