James “Jim” Ewald Kroening, age 79, passed away on Thursday March 19, 2026. Jim was born on June 2, 1946, in Shawano to the late Ewald and Violet (Krause) Kroening. He graduated from Bonduel High School and continued on to drive semi truck for 25-30 years on top of running the family dairy and beef farm. When not working, he enjoyed going to tractor shows and auctions. He loved fixing and tinkering with his old Case tractors. He was always on the move and onto the next project. Jim was united in marriage to Judith Keller on May 10, 1969, in Clintonville. She preceded him in death in 2011. Jim was a fair and stern father with a humorous side and will be deeply missed.

Jim is survived by his sons, Chuck Kroening, Jeff (Kristen) Kroening, James Kroening, Jr., Dean Kroening, and Kevin (Tami) Kroening; grandchildren, Thaddeus James Kroening, Maya Kroening, and Sam Kroening; 2 great-granddaughters; special nephews, Greg, Brandon, and Mason; and sisters, Judy Dahl and Joanne Kramer. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Judith; his parents; grandson, Dylan Kroening; and sister Jermaine Dommer.

A funeral service for Jim will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday March 27, 2026, at Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with Dick Menning officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be held at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Bonduel following the service.
