James A. Sullivan, age 71 of Shawano, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, December 17, 2020. James was born on December 9, 1949, son of the late Thomas Sullivan, Sr. and Naiomi Osborn in Viroqua, Wisconsin. He graduated from Racine High School and went on to college to receive his teaching degree.  James taught in both the Racine and Shawano School Districts. James went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He owned and operated Sullivan Builders Construction in both Racine and Shawano until his retirement.

James is survived by his son, Aaron Sullivan; daughter, Amy (Tyler) Sullivan; his grandchildren, Bailey, Parker and Ruger Rasmussen; the mother of his children, Patricia Sullivan; and brothers, Tom, Bruce (Susan) and Brian (Mary) Sullivan. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Saturday, January 2, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Military Honors, conducted by the Shawano AmVets, will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
