Jay O'Brien, age 61, passed away on Thursday December 28, 2023, at his home in Shawano. Jay was born in Racine on June 6, 1962, to the late Gerald and Judith (Herman) O'Brien. Jay graduated from high school in Racine. He worked in construction with his father, uncle and brothers for several years and most recently worked for North States Industries, Inc. in Shawano. Jay had a passion for music, he loved to listen and to play.  He was a talented guitarist and not a day passed that he didn't pick up his guitar to play.  He loved jamming with his brother and friends.

Jay is survived by his siblings, Joyce (Tom) Rauterkus and Jack (Charlene) O'Brien; and his niece and nephews, Jennifer Rauterkus, Craig (Melissa) Rauterkus, Clint Rauterkus and Joshua O'Brien. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Judith; a brother, Jim O'Brien; and a niece, Christina Forsyth.

A memorial gathering will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 1:00pm until 3:00pm . Inurnment will be in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
