Obituary

Jean Margaret Hesse, age 85, of Keshena, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Neenah surrounded by loved ones. Jean was born on February 11, 1941, in Keshena to the late Alfred and Cecelia (Cardish) Lyons. She lived in Keshena all her life and was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. In Jean’s free time, she enjoyed gambling especially playing slots and cooking all of her famous dishes. She worked in home health care and had a passion for caring for elders. She was witty and silly with a great sense of humor, but when she told you to run you ran. Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren making many memories and making sure each one felt special.

Jean is survived by her children, Patsy Hesse, Vicki (Tony) Wilber, Diana White, Donovan (Danielle) Hesse, Sr., Andrea (Herman) Fish and Peggy Gristeau; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Kreier; and brother, Harley (Diane) Lyons. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her son, Al Gristeau, Sr.; grandsons, John Fish and Tim Wilber; great-granddaughter, Arianna Stutleen; son-in-law, Archie White; husbands, Gerlad Hesse and Duane “Mokie” Gristeau; parents, Alfred and Cecelia Lyons; brothers, Al Lyons, Jr., Joe Lyons and King Lyons; sister, Ginger Smigelski; and two sisters in infancy, Rosella Lyons and Jean’s twin, Joyce Lyons.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Tejerero, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be held at the David Barrett Hall at St. Michaels starting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 11:00 am until the time of service on Friday.
