Obituary

Jeanetta M. Maas, age 86, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Omro. Born on September 14, 1939, to the late Elmer and Melinda (Williams) Welch in Tomah, Wi. After graduating from Gresham high school, she went on to complete her nursing training in Milwaukee. She worked at Evergreen nursing home and at the Outagamie County health center for 20 years. Jeanetta was very proud to have been the first Head Start teacher for the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribe. She was united in marriage to Melvin Maas, on June 7, 1957, in Oneida. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Appleton. Melvin later passed in 2008. The couple moved to Appleton in 1983, and she fully retired in 2009. She was a kind and selfless woman and will be deeply missed.

Jeanetta is survived by: her children, Sandra Maas, Melvin (Linda) Maas, Jr., and Mannie (Annette) Maas; her grandchildren Thomas and Cory; her 4 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: Her parents, Elmer and Melinda; her son David; her husband Melvin; her 8 siblings.

A funeral service for Jeanetta will be held at 1:30 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Friday, March 20, 2026. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will be held in the spring at Roosevelt Cemetery.
