Obituary

Jerome Michael "Honeyboy" Waupoose, age 71 of Keshena, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, in Manawa.  Jerome was born in Keshena on March 16, 1950, to the late Alex and Sarah (Warrington) Waupoose, Sr.  After High School Jerome enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country in Vietnam before receiving an honorable discharge.  Honeyboy enjoyed listening to his Christian radio station, watching football, especially the Packers, and just sitting and people watching.  He had a passion for cars and had a few favorites throughout the years, his Corvette, Camaro, and Mustang among them.  He loved spending time with his family and giving everyone nicknames.

Jerome is survived by: his two children, Rebecca Smith and Scott Dervin; eight grandchildren, Alexis Smith, Ashley Smith, Alphonso Smith, Jr., Ania Smith, Aleasha Dervin, Alyssa Dervin, Alec Dervin, and Aweahseah Dervin; a great grandson, Rico Anthony James Ortiz; and four siblings, Rosemary Waupoose Gengler, Leatha Waupoose Grinhaug, Ivan Waupoose, Sr., and Lowell Waupoose. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Gloria Jean Waupoose Gierach as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Gordon Waupoose, Sr., Alex Waupoose, Jr., LeRoy Waupoose, Irvin Waupoose, Sr., Everette Waupoose, Sr., Xavier Waupoose, Delores Edith Waupoose Koszarek, Gloria Waupoose Herrera, Romilda Waupoose Wilson, Patricia Waupoose Hayes, Antionette "Tudy" Waupoose Wilber, and Leila 'Chip" Waupoose Rabideaux; and three in infancy, Edward Waupoose, Vivian Waupoose and Kenneth Waupoose.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating.  Military Honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation.  Visitation will be held at the Fr. David Barrett Parish Hall beginning Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 4:00 pm and continuing until time of the service on Thursday.
