Obituary

Jerry Grosskreutz, age 71, of Shawano passed away on Friday December 20, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh surrounded by family and friends. Jerry was born on September 7, 1953, at Smoky Hill Air Force Base in Selena, Kansas, to the late Roger and Norma (Olson) Grosskreutz. On March 13, 1976, he was united in marriage to Carol Goode at United Methodist Church in Shawano. The couple spent a wonderful 41 years together before Carol's passing in 2017. Jerry was a career truck driver and went to school for conservation at UW Stevens Point, spent his free time working programs through DNR like the frog and toad surveyor, was a citizen scientist and much more. He was an avid outdoorsman hunting, fishing, was a part of the Briarton Sportsman Club, camping at state and national parks, Devils Lake State Park and Rock Island State Park was his most favorite parks to camp at. Jerry was a big Packers fan, loved traveling and being with his friends and family. He was a generous, caring, loyal, very dependable and selfless man who had a strong faith in God. Due to Jerry's health the past couple of years, he had a hard time getting out and doing what he loved but he was optimistic and fought until the end. He was a wonderful father, papa, brother and uncle; he will be deeply missed.

Jerry is survived by his children, Stacy (Mick) Kurland and Justin (Alicia) Grosskreutz; grandchildren, Skylar, Maximillion and Fynnleigh; brother, Dan (Diane) Grosskreutz. He is further survived by a niece, Shanna (Scott) Owen; nephew, Cody (Emily) Grosskreutz; other relatives and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Roger and Norma; stepfather, Cliffton Grosskreutz; and stepmother, Shirley Grosskreutz.

A funeral service for Jerry will be held at noon on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home starting at 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3 West and ICU staff at Aurora Medical Center of Oshkosh  for their wonderful care.
