Jill Ellen Awonohopay, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Neenah. Jill was born on February 29, 1968, in Shawano to the late James and LaFern (Crowe) Awonohopay. She graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee. Jill worked at Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee. She later then moved to Neopit and worked as a bus driver for the Menominee Indian School District then Menominee Transit.

Jill is survived by her children, Ryan (Lynn) Awonohopay of Keshena and Reece Awonohopay of Neopit; three grandchildren, Ryan, Jr., Bryden and Zalayla; godson, Steven Cadotte, Jr.; significant other, Derek Caldwell; and siblings, Tamara (Steve) Cadotte, Guy (Dawn) Awonohopay, Jamie Awonohopay and Peter Awonohopay.

Jill is preceded in death by her grandparents, Johnson (Frances) Awonohopay, Ray and Evelyn Kaquatosh, Sr., and Albert Crowe, Sr.; and niece, Courtney Cadotte.

Big Drum Traditional burial will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday November 8, 2023, at Zoar Burial Grounds. Visitation will be held at Zoar Ceremonial Building on Monday November 6, 2023, starting at 4:00 pm and continuing until Wednesday at 2:00 pm.
