JoAnn Dorothy (Miller) Dobratz, age 83, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014. Born on February 1, 1931 in Suring, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah Alice (Dieck) Miller. A graduate of Suring High School, she attended Milwaukee Business College. On December 12, 1953 she was united in marriage to Roland Dobratz in Suring. They were blessed to be able to enjoy 60 years together, spending time watching their children and grandchildren grow, attending Packer games, and relaxing on Kelly Lake. JoAnn's pride was celebrating the Fourth of July each year with friends on Kelly Lake. JoAnn's most delightful blessing was the month of October 1997 when her granddaughters were born. They helped her enjoy her later years with laughter, love and companionship. She was a long time member of Peace UCC and worked as a secretary for Franklin Middle School in Shawano. JoAnn is survived by: her best friend and true love, Roland; her children, Kris (Dave) Kunkel and Dan (Sheri) Dobratz all from Stevens Point, Heidi (Scott) Russell of Bonduel; granddaughters, Morgan Sheridan Dobratz, Molly Anna Russell; and step grandson, Jacob (Nikki) Russell of NC. JoAnn is further survived by: her sister, Claudine Telford of Cecil, friend, Doris Belleque of Vancouver, WA; sisters-in-law, Angie Dobratz of Green Bay, Althea Dobratz of Plymouth, Nancy (Glenn) Cummings of Cloverleaf Lakes; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. JoAnn was preceded in death by: her parents, Harry and Sarah Alice Miller; brother, Bert Miller; and sister, Mae Marie Miller. She was also preceded in death by: in-laws; cousins; and her special friend, Lucille Madsen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Shawano with the Rev. Marty Black officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday from 4:00-7:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established for the Shawano County Humane Society and Navarino Wildlife Area. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
