Obituary

Joann Olga Neitzel, age 78, of Bonduel, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 27, 1941, to the late William and Olga (Drath) Daberkow in New London, WI.  She went to a one room grade school and graduated 4th out of a class of 120 students from Washington High School in New London.  After high school, she worked at the corporate offices of Kimberly Clark in Neenah, WI. Joann enjoyed dancing at the Caroline and Cinderella Ballrooms where she met her husband Marvin.  They were married on July 15, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Readfield, WI, by Pastor Ed Stelter.  After the couple was married, they took over the Neitzel family farm in Bonduel and raised their four children.  Joann was a member of the Sugar 'N Spice Homemakers, served on the St. Paul Lutheran School PTL as treasurer and room mother when her children were in school, was a life member of the Bonduel FFA Alumni, and served as an election worker for the Town of Hartland.  She did so much for her family and was an amazing cook, baker, seamstress, gardener, budgeter, and gave her family everything they needed along with unwavering support.  She liked to travel with friends and family and enjoyed time at the hunting cabin and also their cottage on Shawano Lake.  Her greatest loves were her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Joann is survived by her loving husband of almost 59 years, Marvin; her children, Lori (Darrell) Mathew, Patti (Greg) Herrmann, Tami (Lynn) Oxley, and Ron (Lisa) Neitzel; eight grandchildren Brett (special friend Erin) Mathew, Nicole Mathew, Ryan Mathew, Tyler (Hillary) Herrmann, Jennifer (Alex) Barnhart, Jason (Joan) Oxley, Mike (special friend Wendy) Oxley, and Kaley Neitzel; one brother, Harold (Mildred) Daberkow and one sister-in-law, Diane Genke.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Orville in childhood, sister-in-law Yvonne Daberkow, and brother-in-law Roland Genke.

Due to the current health situation, a private family service and burial was held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Joann's name.

The family of Joann would like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Timothy Shoup and Rev. Mark Palmer.
