John is survived by: his wife, Bonnie; children, Lori (Andy) Schmidt of Gresham, Matt (Crystal) Brunner of Tigerton, Sarah (Mark) Sippl of Birnamwood and Emily (Jason) Hintt of Antigo; eight grandchildren, Ethan (Anna) Schmidt, Elizabeth (Daniel) Schmidt, Eric Schmidt, Eben Schmidt, Beau Brunner, Blake Brunner, Madisyn Sippl and Christopher Sippl; one great grandson, Eli Schmidt; father-in-law, Fred Hesse of Black River Falls; two brothers-in-law, Norb Rosenow of Green Bay and Brian (Brenda) Hesse of Black River Falls; two sisters-in-law, Debra (Kevin) Gilbertson of Black River Falls and Connie Hesse of Shawano.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Shirley Rosenow; mother-in-law, Beverly Hesse and brother-in-law, Duane Hesse.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 21, 2017 at St. Francis Solanus Church in Gresham with Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Leopolis at a later date. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and again at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
