John Wayne Hawpetoss, age 59 of Neopit, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Shawano. Born on March 7, 1955 in Keshena, he was the son of the late Samuel and Frances (Matchapatow) Hawpetoss, Sr. John was an iron worker and member of the Local 380, Champagne, IL. When not at work, John enjoyed hunting, fishing, traditional crafting and beadwork, and loved being in the woods. He also loved spending time with his children and beloved grandchildren. John was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. John is survived by: special friend, Leah Besaw; 3 children, Jennifer Zilinski-Dean of OH, Phillip Andrew Hawpetoss of Springfield, IL, Madeline Louise Hawpetoss of Springfield, IL; former wife and mother of his children, Debbie Anderson-Hawpetoss; 5 grandchildren, Destiny, Hayley, Jayden, Zoey, Jordan; and 4 siblings, Jerry Hawpetoss of Neopit, Rebecca Hawpetoss of Keshena, Judy (Pete Shawanokasic) Hawpetoss of Keshena and Sam "Lam" Hawpetoss, Jr. of Keshena. John was preceded in death by: his parents; and 3 siblings, Nina, Glenn and Dale. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Hawpetoss residence located at N3639 North 3rd Street, Neopit with the Rev. Dave Barrett officiating. Visitation will be held at the residence from noon on Thursday until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Woods Cemetery, West Branch.
