John R. Zimmerman, age 75, of Shawano, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his residence. John was born on October 13, 1943 to the late Ralph and Bernice (Prahl) Zimmerman. John proudly served his country in the United States National Guard. On June 15, 2011, John was united in marriage to Judy Schuster. He was the owner and operator of Big John's Restaurant and owned Zimmerman's Meat Market. John was well known for making the best sausage around. He loved riding in his red convertible and enjoyed playing cards.

John is survived by: his wife, Judy; his step children, Cindy (Dan) Hurlbutt and Rick (Alice) Gunderson; his step-grandchildren; his siblings, Janette (Vernon) Ossmann, Jeanine Netzel, Betty (Travis) Milton, and Mavis Plotz; he is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Bernice, and his brothers, Leo and Dennis Zimmerman.

A gathering of family and friends will be held for John from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano.
