Obituary

Joseph Schwebl, Jr., age 87, of Lutz, FL, formerly of Shawano, died Thursday, March 28, 2019 in Florida. Joe was born January 29, 1932 in Oak Park, IL. He was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Slad) Schwebl, Sr. He attended the Illinois Architectural School and served with the United States Army Airborne. Joseph also enjoyed fishing on Shawano Lake.

Joe was united in marriage to Carol Marohl on November 20, 1954; she preceded him in death January 20, 1999. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano. Survivors include five daughters Pamela Schwebl, Catherine Schwebl Waits, Dorothy Steen, Susan Schwebl, and Carol Lynn (Chris) Traber; eight grandchildren, Gregory Steen, Lauren Steen, Nickolas Browne, Kaylee Browne, Roxana Waits, Katie Traber, Grayson Traber, and Maya Traber; and one brother Allan (Diana) Schwebl.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carol, one son Joseph "Joe" Schwebl, III, one brother Walter Schwebl, and Carol's parents Walter "Junior" and Dorothy Mahl.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Shawano with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post 117. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Shawano County Humane Society.
