Obituary

Joyce C. Koons, age 91, of Shawano passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Shawano. Joyce was born on February 1, 1927 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of the late Roy J.C. and Carol E. (Beed) Bird.  On July 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to George Koons in San Francisco, CA.  Joyce is a member of the Church on the Hill in Shawano.  She was a very intelligent woman and liked challenging games and puzzles.  In her free time, Joyce enjoyed playing cards and traveling with her friends.
Joyce is survived by: her husband of 72 years, George; her daughter, Sheila C. Koons of Wausaukee; her sister, Norma Lee Bock of Watermon, IL; and her half-sister, Sharon (Donn) Loe of Seal Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Linda J. Porter in 2015; her parents; two brothers, Gary Bird and George Bird; and two sisters, Jean Mount and Mary Lou Klink.
Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Claudia Deede officiating. Inurnment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
