Obituary

Julie Rose (Plier) Hintz, age 67, of Cecil, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 29, 2026, at her home. Julie was born on September 28, 1959, in Shawano, daughter of the late Ivan and Joyce (Duame) Plier. Julie graduated from Bonduel High School in 1977. She married Jerry Hintz at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Green Valley on December 20, 1975, and together they raised four children - Jason, Jill, Jeffrey and Jordan. Julie was later employed at Owen’s Fine Foods. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends – especially her beloved grandchildren who referred to her affectionately as Nammie, she never missed an opportunity to attend their concerts and cattle shows. Julie loved hosting family holidays and card parties. She was an excellent cook and baker, and you could always find a sweet treat on her counter or in the pantry as well as a fridge full of the grandkid’s favorite sodas. In her free time she enjoyed visiting area supper clubs, playing cards, and gambling. Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer 19 years ago. Following many years of remission, cancer reappeared in 2023. Through each treatment, Julie taught her family that strength means being open to accepting help, that vulnerability is courage, and that you can be terrified and brave at the same time. Her family remembers her fierce love, quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and refusal to let cancer define her final years.

Julie is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Jerry; children, Jason (Holly) Hintz of Green Bay, Jill (Bill) Sikorski of Green Valley, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Hintz of Krakow, Jordan (Nathan Falk) Hintz of Shawano; grandchildren, Alec (special friend, Melanie), Caitlyn (special friend, Connor), Amelia, Ivan, Miles and Stella; sister, Rosemary (Joe) Rueckert; sister-in-law, Carol (David) Dittman; and brothers-in-law, Denis (Judy) Hintz, Wayne Hintz, Dale Hintz, and Curtis (Julie) Hintz. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, as well as her beloved canine companion, Ollie.

Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Ivan Plier, as well as her parents, Ivan and Joyce (Duame) Plier.

A memorial service for Julie will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel with Fr. Jim Esser officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday November 4, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church-Green Valley Cemetery at a later date.

Julie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the medical teams that allowed them to have Julie for so long following her cancer diagnosis, especially the doctors and staff of The Cancer Team at Bellin Health, and to the nurses at Unity Hospice for their assistance and care of Julie over the past several weeks.
