Julius Wnuk, age 94, of Bonduel, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. Julius was born in Little Suamico, Wisconsin on January 31, 1930, to the late Steve and Josephine (Shudrowicz) Wnuk. He was baptized on February 16, 1930, by Rev. P. Borowski and his sponsors were Joannes Bistun and Stanislaw Truskowska. He confirmed his faith to Rev. Walter J. Plischke on June 1, 1952, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel, Wisconsin. His confirmation verse was, "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptations that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." On his birthday in 1951 Julius met the love of his life, Elaine Doris Herman, on a blind date. Julius and Elaine were united in marriage on June 21, 1952, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Walter J. Plischke officiating. They had four wonderful children together. Julius worked for Bleick's Creamery for two years, then drove gas truck for Westerfeld Oil Company for 12 years. In 1968 he bought his father-in-law's farm where he farmed until his retirement in 1995. He also loved making firewood and cooking maple syrup. He loved polka dancing and traveling, taking numerous trips through the states in the family van. Julius also served as a volunteer fireman for 15 years and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as an usher.
Julius is survived by: his wife of 72 years, Elaine; four children, Jeffrey (Clare) Wnuk, Cynthia Hollins, Kevin (Bobbi Jo) Wnuk, and Wendy (David) Cartwright; eight grandchildren, Jesse Wnuk, Jason (Cathy) Heinz, Tammy (Craig) Summers, Kasey (Shelly) Wnuk, Kaleb (Tanya) Wnuk, Rebecca Cartwright, Samuel Cartwright, and Jeremy (Rebecca) Hollins; nine great grandchildren, Dallas and Catherine Heinz, Ian, Cale, and Jude Summers, Abigail and Julian Hollins, Joslyn Wnuk, Clayton Wnuk, another one on the way; and a sister-in-law, Magdalene Wnuk.
He is preceded in death by: his parents; a grandson, Craig Wnuk; a daughter Susan at birth; son-in-law, James Hollins; three brothers, Kermit, Robert, and Chester; three sisters, Ruth, Irene, and Della; as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A funeral service for Julius will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Mortgage Fund.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice, Nikki Meyers and Joy Griffin for the wonderful care. The family also extends deep gratitude and love to the extended Kevin Wnuk family for many years of daily care, and to Clayton Wnuk for bringing love and joy to his Great Papa as only a toddler can.
