Obituary

Katherine Emma "Kathie" Raasch, age 78, was called home to her Savior on Sunday February 25, 2024, in Appleton. Kathie was born in Shawano on May 19, 1945, to the late Karl and Mary (Jensen) Hafemann. She graduated in 1963 from Shawano High School and married her high school sweetheart, Gerald B "Gary" Raasch on April 24, 1965, and were married for 58 wonderful years.

The couple moved from an apartment in Shawano after they were married to a farm in the township of Herman and moved to Wilcox, Arizona in the early 1970's. From there they moved back to Maribel, Wisconsin and back to the Town of Herman in Shawano. They farmed for 24 years, first raising Angus cattle, then hogs and finally milked their registered herd of Jersey cows until they stopped farming in 1995 and moved to Pella, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Silva, Missouri in 2009 and at their daughter's and grandsons' insistence moved back to Shawano in 2020, "so if something happens to you we can take care of you", where her husband still resides with their two pets.

Kathie worked at the A.C. Neilson Company in Green Bay and then Thoreson Food Products until she stayed home to be with her two children and to help on the farm, which she enjoyed very much. She worked at ThedaCare for 12 years until she retired when they moved to Missouri. Kathie enjoyed being the secretary at St. John Lutheran Church in Hermansfort for over 20 years and liked singing in the church choir. She enjoyed farming and all the farm animals especially her horses, dogs and Jerseys. Kathie had many hobbies which included horseback riding, motorcycle riding, canoeing, camping, bird watching, gardening, cooking, baking, reading and especially spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Kathie is survived by her loving husband, Gary; daughter, Melissa Schreiber, of Shawano; grandsons, Josh Schreiber, of Upper Michigan and Jake (Larissa) Schreiber, of Suamico; great-grandchildren, Jakobi, Amelia and Lyla; sisters, Peggy Brennan, of Shawano and Susan (Mike) Yankowski, of North Carolina; and pets, Katie and Kiki. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kathie is preceded in death by her son, Timothy; parents, Karl and Mary Hafemann; and many furry friends.

A funeral service for Kathie will be held at 11:00am on Friday March 1, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hermansfort, with Pastor Steve Conradt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials can be directed to St. John Lutheran Church in Hermansfort.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nola from ThedaCare at Home Hospice, Pastor Conradt, Mrs. Conradt, Caring Hearts Committee, Joyful Hearts and the congregation for their prayers, support, gifts, cards and the doctors at Froedtert Hospital and Aurora Bay care for their wonderful care.
