Katie Gajewski, age 88, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at Birch Hill Care Center in Shawano on May 26, 2018.
Katie was born on August 5, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI and united in Catholic marriage to her first love, Don Gajewski on September 11, 1948. The couple continued to live in Milwaukee for 30 years and raised their only son, Bob.
Katie was proud of her working years at North Shore Bank and climbed the company ladder due to her friendly personality and sharp math skills. She and Don enjoyed many bus trips across the country that Katie organized through the bank.
After retirement, Don and Katie moved to Rhinelander and Shawano to be closer to their family. They shared a very special bond with their grandsons Rob and Ryan and spent as much time as possible with them. During the winters, the couple lived in Florida and enjoyed going out to eat, attending music shows, and entertaining friends.
Katie loved shopping and was on top of the latest fashions and home decor trends. She was always styled to perfection in a cute Alfred Dunner outfit with matching shoes and jewelry. Katie also had the gift of gab and could talk to anyone. Her sweet and loving spirit will always be remembered by those who knew her.
Most importantly, Katie was devoted to her family. In her later years, she was blessed with her only great-grandson, Charlie. She enjoyed making family dinners and being with the family Golden Retriever, Maggie.
Katie is survived by her son Bob (Nancy) Gajewski of Rhinelander; grandsons Rob (Jaime) Gajewski of Shawano and Ryan (Kelly) Gajewski of Madison; and great-grandson, Charlie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don on Feb 15, 2015.
Katie is now reunited with her husband Don, with whom she celebrated over 60 years of marriage before his passing. During their lives they rarely spent a day apart. Today, the family draws comfort in knowing Don and Katie will be together forever in Heaven with their Savior.
A private family memorial has been arranged.
