Obituary

Kathy Lynn Waupoose, age 59, of Neopit, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. She was born on June 23, 1963, to the late Dewey Thunder and Edith (Waupoose) Santerno in Antigo. Kathy graduated from Menominee Indian High School with the class of 1983. She continued her education at the College of Menominee Nation earning a degree as an educator. One of the first to be certified as a Menominee language teacher, Kathy taught at the Menominee Tribal School and Keshena Primary School. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, watching tv shows and movies with her Roku, and arts and crafts, especially doing beadwork. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Kathy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Manih (Jade Pecore) Waupoose, Melvin Waupoose, and Bryce Waupoose; special children, Autumn McPherson and Bobbi Denny; grandchildren, Kaylin Waupoose, Francis Pecore, James Rockman, Lillian Waupoose, Viola Waupoose, Mni sosi hoksina Waupoose, Briauna Bedeau, and Cheyenne Grant; a great-grandchild on the way; special friend, Troy Crow; brothers and sisters, Paula Waupoose, Lynn (Dugan) Beauprey, Darwin Thunder and Thomas Thunder; special sister-in-law, Tracy Kakwitch; special nieces and nephews, Mindy Waupoose, Anthony "AJ" Waupoose, Kyle Waupoose, Stephen Waupoose, Jr. Austin Waupoose, Keleigh Isham, Chanice Waupoose and Adam Isham. She is further survived by special friends, Roberta Boyd, Carol Fish, Lori Ninham; and Godchildren, Loretta Ninham, Raissa Haack, Alysia Hernandez and Baby Scootch Madosh. Kathy is further survived by many other relatives and friends.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters, Alfred "Waump" Waupoose, Kyle Thunder, Helen Rose Thunder, Stephen Waupoose, Wayne Waupoose, Dana Waupoose and Sherry Waupoose.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the residence of Manih Waupoose, N3640 2 nd Avenue, Neopit, until the procession leaves for the church on Tuesday.
