IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Keith S.
Powell
October 17, 1948 – October 17, 2024
Keith S. Powell passed away peacefully on Thursday October 17th, 2024, his 76th birthday. Born and raised in Shawano, he spent nearly his entire life in the community he cherished. A 1967 graduate of Shawano High School, Keith stayed involved throughout the years, assisting with class reunions and maintaining lifelong friendships. He served his country with honor in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne, completing a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his military service, he earned his degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1975. Keith was a true outdoorsman who found joy in the simple pleasures of nature. He made his home on Lark Road, creating a country oasis where he tended to his garden, fed the birds, and even begrudgingly welcomed the squirrels and rabbits who found their way in. He grew flowers to make bouquets for Aggie and always had a load of vegetables in his trunk to share with friends. Keith's neighbors on Lark Road became like family, and he was deeply grateful for the close-knit community he found there.
Keith's memory will forever be cherished by his brother, Leon Powell (Deb Zernicke); his sister, Valarie Powell, and brother-in-law, Tom Monsour; as well as Aggie's son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and JoAnn Brennan. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Jeff and JoAnn for their compassionate care and support, which allowed Keith and Aggie to spend more time together. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Lisa (Don) Ellertson, Jean (Randy) Zikan, Jason Russell, Rick (Kathy) Russell, Kelly (Jeremy) Edwards, David Russell, Debra (Greg) Rudie, Travis Powell, Justin Powell, Brandon (Traci) Powell, David Purpura, and Laurel Wilson, along with his goddaughter, Sara (Charlie) Lemerande.
Keith is reunited in peace with his parents, Raymond and Viola Powell; his sister, Connie Purpura; his brother, Victor (DuWayne) Powell; his sister and brother-in-law, Joan (Myra) and Archie Russell; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and William Hoffmann; the love of his life, Aggie; and his niece, Jody Dufek.
Visitation for Keith will be held on Saturday November 2nd, 2024, at Swedberg Funeral Home, 518 W. Fifth Street, Shawano. Family and friends are welcome to gather starting at 9:00 am, with a memorial service to follow at 10:45 am.
