October 24, 1930 – January 31, 2019
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, the Lord called Kenneth Marvin Kroenke to his eternal home at the age of 88. Kenneth was born in the Town of Richmond on October 24, 1930, a son of the late Henry and Margaret (Marohl) Kroenke. He was baptized at birth and lived in Shawano County all his life. Kenneth worked on his parent's farm as well as in construction. He was extremely proud of his stone work. Ken was confirmed on March 25, 1945 at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church. He met his future wife, Doris M. (Schmidt) Kohnke at R& R Bowling Alley and on September 8, 1962, they were united in marriage at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was a good father to her children and they had 55 happy years together before Doris passed away on June 26, 2017. Kenneth was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, serving on the finance committee and enjoyed his work with the Orphan Grain Train. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, bowling, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
Kenneth is survived by: three children, Sandra (David) Huebner of Belle Plaine, Sheryl Martinez of New York and William (Marilyn) Kohnke of Caroline; two grandchildren, Kenneth (Cindy) Huebner and Terresa (Steve Neumeier) Huebner; three great-grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Wesenberg, Cheri (Al) Weier and Karalee Rose Hubble; and nine great great-grandchildren, Quinn, Casey, Kollins, Noah, Audrey, Jack, Evan, Ava and Izak. He his further survived by his brothers, David Kroenke of Shawano.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Doris; his parents, and brothers, Irvin (Dorothy) and Robert (Lois); and sister, Doris (August) Gueths.
Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Steve Schauder officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Embarrass in the spring. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. A memorial fund has been established at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
