Obituary

Kenneth E. Schneider, age 88, of Cecil, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, while surrounded by his family on Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2018 in Green Bay. He was born in the Town of Maple Grove on October 31, 1929, the son of the late Clarence and Margaret (Hansen) Schneider.  Kenneth is a 1949 graduate of Bonduel High School.  In 1951, Kenneth was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge on October 9, 1953.  On August 8, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Arbutus Wegner at St. John's United Church of Christ in Cecil.  For a short time, Kenneth worked at Appleton Coated before the couple began dairy farming, until their retirement.  Kenneth still enjoyed helping on the farm, along with tractor rides.  Kenneth was extremely proud his military service and was a member of the Bonduel American Legion Post #217.  He had a love for old Army jeeps… so much so, that he drove his own restored jeep in numerous local parades year after year.  In past years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, travelling with Arbutus, including trips throughout the states and numerous countries, and 4-wheeling.  He took great pride in his new Gator, which he purchased this past winter.
Kenneth is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Arbutus; his son, Gerald "Jerry" (Alice) Schneider of Cecil; two daughters, Joyce (Roger) Olson of Shawano and JoAnn (Steve Schmidt) Schneider of Gillett; three grandchildren, Jesse (Tieha Kuczer) Schneider of Bonduel, Lisa (Matt Dazell) Schmidt of Merrillville, IN and Nikki Schmidt of Gillett.  He is further survived by his brother, Clarence (Barb) Schneider of Cecil; a sister-in-law, Shirley Wegner of Shawano; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Vernon (Bernice) Schneider; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin Wegner and Marvin and Myrtle Neumann.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Cecil with Rev. Moira Finley officiating. Burial will be in St. John's UCC Cemetery in Cecil with military rites conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel and again at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.  Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Groteluschen and the wonderful ladies of Green Bay Oncology of St. Mary's. They also express their gratitude to Nicole Hieronimczak of St. Mary's ICU, Pastor Moira Finley and their neighbor, Terry Tipton for their kindness and compassion during this time.
