Kenneth E. Seefeldt, age 87, of Cecil, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016, in Shawano. Kenneth was born in Town of Grover on September 24, 1928 to the late Edward and Olga (Rohde) Seefeldt. He served our country during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953, as an airplane mechanic, where he earned a Korean Service Medal and a Bronze Star. Ken started his own poultry business in the 1950's in Peshtigo and in 1960, he joined Wright Broiler Company in Shawano. On April 7, 1979, Ken was united in marriage to Donna Thompson, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel. In 1980, the couple moved to Chippewa Falls where they owned and operated the Erickson Motel. Ken was also a motor coach driver for Chippewa Trails Tours of Chippewa Falls for 16 years. He enjoyed touring the country coast to coast. His travels took him to Canada for fishing and caribou hunting and out west to hunt elk. Ken enjoyed Pheasant hunting with his dog Scooby and volunteered his time to help guide disabled hunters. He and Donna enjoyed motorcycle rides and vacations in Arizona and Florida. They enjoyed traveling to Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as snorkeling in the Caribbean, on the Island of Roaten, Honduras. Ken loved sports, he enjoyed watching the Brewers and the Packers and was an avid fan of Bonduel High School's basketball, volleyball and baseball teams. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports. One of the many high points of his life was when he was selected for the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in October of 2014. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel and the former President of the Shawano Lake Lions Club.
Ken is survived by his wife, Donna; one daughter, Pam Seefeldt of Shawano; five sons, Alan (friend, Cheryl) of Green Bay, Gary (Charlene) of Shawano, Scott (Wendy) of Hawaii, Larry of DePere and John (Terry) of Neenah; one step daughter, Tammy (Keith) Rosin of Bonduel; seven grandchildren, Samantha Seefeldt, Kyle Seefeldt, Dylan (Melissa) Seefeldt, Brianna Seefeldt, Tasha Seefeldt, Hannah Seefeldt, and Sam Seefeldt; four step-grandchildren, Jenilee Hughes, Joshua (Lisa) Hughes, Katie Jo (Jordan) Greuel, and Mikal (fiancé Tess Myklebust) Anschutz; seven great-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Arvid (Marlene) Seefeldt of Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Delores and Romaine Seefeldt; as well as the mother of his children, Carol Seefeldt of Shawano.
He was preceded in death by one step daughter, Kathie Jo Thompson, one grandson, Nicholas Seefeldt, two brothers, Lester and Russell Seefeldt, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with Rev. Mark Palmer officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bonduel American Legion Post #217 and the Shawano VFW Post #2723. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg-Wendt Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
