Obituary

Kerry Angeline Dixon, age 66, eternally age 39, passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, in Appleton.  She was born in Keshena on January 14, 1955, to Lois Ann Soman and Byron Norbert Dixon Sr. She would later be given the Menominee name by Helen Thunder, Osawanakesiqewīw, appropriately meaning "Southern Sky Woman", with sunsets being her favorite time of day. She took pride in her name as she did in all her Menominee traditions and cultural ways. She enjoyed traveling to pow-wows and dancing in her traditional dresses she created throughout the decades. Being a member of Big Drum, she lived her life by the teachings and ways of our ancestors, always kind and loving to all she held close. She had many dear friends along her journey here on earth and treasured her family members and each moment she spent with each one. Her favorite past-times were spending summers at the Dixon lake lot. During the winter months she loved crafting and DIY projects. She also loved playing Bingo. Her favorite thing to do was to sit around with her friends, family, and her Doctor, "Dr. Cherry McGuillicuddy", aka, the Kerry-BOMB!

Kerry is survived by: her children Tim (Hannah) Dixon and Bernadette Wāpanoh (Tony Frechette); her grandchildren Jeffery Dixon, Timmy Dixon, Tiger Dixon, Halie Fish, Bryce Dixon, Pepper Fish, Toby Dixon, Jordan Dixon, and Dechlyn Dixon; her great-grandchildren Elianna Dixon, as well a great-grandson on the way; her special pets Pretty Boy, Kīqsahsach, Killer, Shadow, Go-Go, and Cali; her siblings Debra Dixon, Byron (Doretta) Dixon Jr., Eugene Dixon Sr., Jeff (Valarie) Dixon Sr., Jody (Cindy) Dixon Sr., Jennifer Dixon, Cory Dixon Sr., and Jessie Dixon. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, her siblings Alex Shawn Dixon and LaVita Dixon.
