Kurt Anthony Pocan, Sr. age 42, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born on July 3, 1979 to Alice Marie Pocan and Vernal Leland High in Antigo, Wisconsin. He was raised by his mother, Alice, and grandparents, Lorene and Edmund Pocan. Kurt worked in landscaping and was self-employed. He loved cooking and teaching kids cooking skills. He was known as a good storyteller and enjoyed helping people whenever he could. Kurt brightened up the place when he was around and loved to make others laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Gauthier; mother, Alice Pocan; children: Kurt Pocan, Jr., Summer Pocan, and Winter Pocan; brother and sisters: Carl (Emily Gauthier) Pocan, Janice Waukechon, and Billie Sue (Thomas) Williams; and his special uncle Allen "Pee-Wee" (Debbie) Pocan. He is further survived by other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Kurt is preceded in death by his father, Vernal, and his grandparents, Lorene and Edmund Pocan.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Anthony Church in Neopit with Fr. Nonito Barra officiating. Burial will be in Gauthier Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held in the Neopit Community Center, Father David Keifer Room after 2:00 pm on Tuesday until time of services on Thursday. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
