LaRoy "Mun" Miller, age 80 of Bowler, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Wausau. Born on June 17, 1931 in the Town of Red Springs, he was the son of the late Roy and LuAnna (Tousey) Miller. After graduating high school, Mun enlisted with the United States Army to serve his country for more than two years during the Korean War. On December 16, 1968 he was united in marriage to Barbara Wilber in Waukegan, IL. Mun lived most of his life in the Bowler area where he was self employed as a logger. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness and was a member and past commander of the Gresham American Legion. In his free time he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding in the woods and watching football. Mun is survived by: his daughter, Nancy (Dale) Boivin of Bowler; 4 grandchildren, Krista, Becky, Devon, B.J.; 2 step-grandchildren, Kandice, Dale, Jr.; a great-grandson, Michael; 2 brothers, Allen (Kathryn) Miller, Peter Miller; 4 sisters, Uwanda (Daryl) Schoenfeldt, Carol Goss, Charleen Reiter, Marvel Miller; a brother-in-law, Keith Welch; and many nieces and nephews. Mun was preceded in death by: his wife, Barbara on October 9, 2007; his son, Michael on October 31, 2001; his parents; 4 brothers, Dewey Miller, Roger (Joyce) Miller, Leon (Sharon) Miller, Paul Miller; 3 sisters, Noreen Welch, AnnaLou (Lester) Helle, Imogene (Bernard) Beilke; and 2 brothers-in-law, Gary Goss and Wayne Reiter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Lutheran Church of the Wilderness in Bowler with the Mrs. Melinda Shriner officiating. Burial will be in the Stockbridge Indian Burial Grounds in the Town of Bartelme with Military Rites conducted by the Gresham American Legion Post #390. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 4-8pm and on Saturday after 10am until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
