Larry J. Welch, age 37 of Shawano, passed away at his home with his family and friends at his side on Sunday, October 13, 2013 after a courageous 14 month battle with AML Leukemia. Born on October 25, 1975 in Shawano, he was the son of Christine L. (Surprise) Welch and the late Elmer C. Welch, Jr. He grew up in Gresham and went to school in Shawano. He later moved to Shawano where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, snowmobiling, playing computer games, surfing the internet, going out to eat, and at time being a garage monkey. Larry is survived by: his mother, Christine Welch of Shawano; his siblings, Wanda (James) Schmitt of Green Bay, Jeffrey (Karen) Dey of Oconto, Randy (Mary) Dey of Suring, Wesley (Lydia) Welch of Coleman, Steven (Kim) Welch of Shawano; nephews, Cody and Sheldon Welch, Thomas Dey, Jeremy (Laura) Dey, Edward Dey; nieces, Jennifer Dey, Gabrielle (Nicholas) Campbell; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Larry was preceded in death by: his father, Elmer Welch, Jr.; 2 brother, Douglas and Charles; grandparents, Elmer C. and Malinda B. Welch, Irvin and Margaret Surprise; and a nephew, Jason Dey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Old Stockbridge Presbyterian Church in Morgan Siding with the Rev. Karl Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
