Laura Lee "Butchie" Martin (Suniyan-ikwe), age 51, began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, January 7, 2022. She was born to Karen (Komanekin) and the late Lawrence Martin, Jr. on September 27, 1970. Butchie was accomplished in a variety of medical specialties including phlebotomy, dental assistant, and chiropractor work. She also worked for TC – Transcontinental Capri Packaging as a tow motor operator. She loved traveling with her sons or riding the road on her Harley motorcycle. Butchie also enjoyed spending time in her "She-Shack", practicing karate, scuba diving, and sitting back with an ice-cold drink of Kesslers and Mountain Dew.

She is survived by: her sons, Michael Lee (Shannon) and Moshawquit, brothers and sisters, Michael (Juliana) Martin, Lawrence O. Martin III, Dean (Melissa) and Jean (Charlie); aunts and uncles, Wes (Sharon) Komanekin, Tom Komanekin, Jeff (Kim) Komanekin, Jason (Becky) Komanekin, Jamie (Tammy) Komanekin, Barb May, Lisa Komanekin, Sue (Rich) Komanekin, Marjoel (Clifford) Wilbur, Sue Martin, Jane (Ron) Oteravic, Cindy (Ed) Boivin, Helene (Joe) Caldwell, Gloria (Randy) Klein, and Bill Martin. Butchie is further survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Butchie is preceded in death by:  her father, Lawrence O. Martin, Jr.; grandparents, Lawrence O. and Helen Martin, Sr., and James and Marjorie Komanekin; sister-in-law, Shelly Martin; uncles, Joe Martin, George Martin, James Komanekin, Jr., Kurt Komanekin; and aunt, Nancy Anthony.

Funeral services for Butchie will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Father Nonito Barra officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and at 9:30 am on Friday at the funeral home until the time of service.
