LaVonne K. Schmidt, age 81, of Shawano, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Green Bay. Born on July 3, 1931 in Elton, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Alma (Fultz) Mauk. On March 13, 1948 she was united in marriage to Leonard J. Schmidt in Oshkosh. After marriage the couple lived in Illinois and Gresham before moving to Shawano in 1973. After nearly 60 years of marriage, Leonard preceded her in death on December 1, 2007. LaVonne worked as a nursing assistant for four years. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. LaVonne is survived by: brothers, Benny (Mary) Mauk of Elton, Samuel (Veronica) Mauk of Antigo; 4 sisters, Lorraine Safford of Omaha, NE, Clara June Schmidt of Shawano, Sherri Verburg of WA, Laurel (Gerald) McGee of White Lake; nieces and nephews including special niece, Patricia DeHart of White Lake; grandkids, JoNita (David) Schuman, Nick (Heather) DeHart; and great-grandkids, Avery and Caybrey DeHart. LaVonne was preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard; her parents; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and a special nephew, Artie Swim. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Mr. Sam Mauk officiating. Graveside Services will be at 2:30pm on Monday at the Church on the Hill Cemetery in Elton.
