Lawrence James Romuald, age 78, passed away on August 5, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, faith, friendship, and devotion to family. Born to Arnold and Marie (Tombal) Romuald on August 8, 1947, in Champion, Wisconsin, he lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and a deep commitment to the people and communities he served.

A 1965 graduate of Luxemburg High School, he excelled in athletics, lettering four years in baseball and two years in football. His love of sports remained with him throughout his life. He played both fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball for more than 40 years, was an avid golf player, and a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.

Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army as part of the Army Security Agency (ASA) and Military Intelligence, from 1966 to 1970, including service in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He remained deeply committed to fellow veterans throughout his life, maintaining active membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the American Legion. He was privileged to participate in an Honor Flight in 2018, a memorable experience he greatly cherished. He earned an Associate Degrees in Data Processing and Accounting from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in June 1973. He later received his Bachelor's Degree in Managerial Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1982 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983.

He enjoyed a distinguished 42-year career serving the agricultural cooperative community, a career he considered rewarding because of the farmers he considered the greatest people to work for. He began with Consolidated Badger/Morning Glory Farms in June 1973, eventually serving as Controller from 1983 to 1985. In 1985, he joined 21st Century Genetics/Cooperative Resources International (CRI), where he served as Treasurer and Vice President of Finance until his retirement in 2015. During his tenure, he traveled extensively throughout the world, helping establish foreign distributorships and supporting CRI's international growth.

A respected leader in his profession, he devoted significant time to professional organizations. He served as President of the local chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (formerly the National Association of Accountants) in 1992, following years of involvement from 1983 to 1992. He was an active member of the National Society of Accountants for Cooperatives (NSAC), Great Lakes Chapter, from 1996 through 2026, served on the National NSAC Board from 1996 to 2013, and was elected National President in 2012. In recognition of his contributions, he received the NSAC National Silver Bowl Award in 2015 and was inducted into the NSAC Great Lakes Chapter Hall of Fame in 2023.

His expertise also benefited the Farm Credit and AgStar organizations. He served on the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2015 as a recognized financial expert. From 2009 to 2015, he also served on the Farm Credit Plan Sponsorship Committee, overseeing human resources and payroll functions for affiliated associations and serving as Committee President from 2014 to 2015.

Faith and community involvement were central to his life. At Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano, he served on the School Board in 1993, the Pastoral Council from 1997 to 2007, and the Finance Council from 2023 to 2026. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus from 1988 to 2026. His commitment to service extended throughout the Shawano community, where he was active in Rotary Club of Shawano, serving as President in 2008, and also participated in the Shawano Jaycees, Optimist Club, United Way Board, and Shawano Club.

Above all, he treasured his family. He shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia (Schott) Romuald, creating a lifetime of memories together. Following his retirement in 2015, the couple embraced life as snowbirds, spending the past ten winters in Sun City West, Arizona. There he enjoyed golf, friendships, and the warm community that became a second home.

He had a passion for photography, military history, golf, softball, travel, and spending time with friends and family. He enjoyed two unforgettable river cruises and an ocean cruise, and developed what he jokingly referred to as an "acquired taste" for bourbon.

He will be remembered for his integrity, leadership, patriotism, faith, sense of humor, and genuine appreciation for people. His impact will be felt by family, friends, colleagues, fellow parishioners, veterans, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Patricia (Schott) Romuald; children, Roxi (Aaron) Stelter, Suzie (Paul) Blasczyk and Brendan (fiancé, Melissa Housh); grandchildren, Kelsey Stelter, Lily Stelter, Alexa (fiancé, Danny Darling) Blasczyk, Caden Blasczyk and Magnolia Romuald; sisters, Rose (David) Paul, Judy (Rick) DeJardin, Linda (Chris) DeBeck and Diane Nuckles. He is further survived by numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Marie (Tombal) Romuald; uncle, Richard Tombal; brother, James Romuald; and grandson, Rory Romuald.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Fr. Edward Looney officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Military Honors will be conducted by the Shawano VFW Post #2723 at the church. Entombment will be held at Nicolet Memorial Park in Green Bay.
