Lawrence A. Schroeder, age 84, passed away on Wednesday June 7, 2023, at his home in Shawano. Lawrence was born in Shawano on February 5, 1939, to the late Albert and Irene (Montoure) Schroeder Sr. Lawrence grew up in Shawano and had many fond memories of spending time at the family cottage on Shawano Lake. On June 23, 1962, Lawrence was united in marriage to Nancy Buelter in Bowler, Wisconsin. Lawrence worked as a carpenter for many years. He was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and spent many years breeding and raising hunting dogs. He was once featured in the local paper for hunting 50 consecutive years of opening days of duck season on Shawano Lake. Lawrence proudly built the family cabin, known to many as Schroeder's Bear Camp, in Alvin Township, with his own two hands. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather will be deeply missed.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy; children, Mark (Lisa Kalmon) Schroeder and Deborah (fiancé Louie Hoefs) Schroeder; two granddaughters, Talisa (Matt) Elgenhauser and Jocelyn (Tyler) Miller; two great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Myles; siblings, Lila Postler, Darlene (Darwin) Drake, Dennis Schroeder and Gene (Naomi) Schroeder; a sister-in-law, Elaine Schroeder and a brother-in-law, Art Buelter. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Albert Schroeder Jr. and Betty Stiebs; sisters-in-law, Kay Schroeder and Marie Schroeder; and brothers-in-law, Perry Postler and Larry Stiebs.
A funeral service for Lawrence will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 9, 2023, at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond with Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
