Leland Joseph Schuh, age 89 of Shawano, passed away Friday, May 16, 2014 at Oak Haven in Shawano. Born on February 26, 1925 in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Uerling) Schuh. After graduating from high school, Leland enlisted with the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country for two years during World War II. After service, Leland furthered his education by attending St. Norbert College and the University of Wisconsin. He was later employed by the State of Wisconsin as a Laboratory Technician. On February 15, 1947 he was united in marriage to Mildred L. Dingeldein in Shawano. The couple enjoyed traveling and wintering in California. Leland was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano and a member of the Shawano American Legion. Leland is survived by: his wife of 67 years, Mildred; his 4 children, David (Sharon) Schuh of Chads Ford, PA, Steven (Frances) Schuh of Cocoa Beach, FL, Cynthia (Tony) Schuh Fruhwirth of Oshkosh, James (Kelly) Schuh of West Friendship, MD; 8 grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Schuh Reilly, Michael (Abby) Schuh, Joseph (Julie) Schuh, John Schuh, Christian and Kellen Fruhwirth, Caitlin and Eric Schuh; and 5 great-grandchildren, Kyra, Ally, Jack, Layne and Sophie. Leland was preceded in death by: his parents; and 3 sisters. Private family services were held. Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano is assisting the family with the arrangements.
