Leonard J. Wolf, age 96 of Shawano, was called to his heavenly rest on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Born on March 15, 1915 in the Town of Belle Plaine, he was the son of the late Emil and Amelia (Kuhn) Wolf. Leonard grew up in the Belle Plaine area where he attended Grass Lake School and St. Martin's German School. On May 20, 1939 he was united in marriage to Verna Buchert in Watertown. The couple farmed the Emil Wolf Family farm for 35 years. In retirement they moved to Shawano. Leonard was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine. He was active in church affairs as a treasurer and trustee. He was proud to sit on the committee that purchased the new organ. Leonard had a great love for music, beginning with the violin. Later, he learned to play concertina and would become a renowned musician playing for many weddings, showers, picnics and parties. His first band was "Frank's Round Up", and was followed by the familiar "Swing Your Hoof with Leonard Wolf". In 2007, he was inducted into the World Concertina Congress Hall of Fame. Leonard also enjoyed fishing and camping. Leonard is survived by: his beloved wife of 72 years, Verna; daughter, Diana Schauder of De Pere; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Schauder of Portugal, Andrew Schauder of Scottsdale, AZ; Anne (Keith) Brimlow of Flagstaff, AZ; and Daniel Schauder of Hawkins, WI. He is further survived by two sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clarence Wolf and sister, Loretta Kriewaldt. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the St. Martin's Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Saturday after 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
