Leroy Hert passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born in Sheboygan, WI, to Anna and Leroy Hert. Leroy graduated from Sheboygan South High School and worked for WPS for 35 years, completing his career at the Pulliam Plant in Green Bay. He married Bonnie (Ball) Hert in 1976.

Leroy's greatest challenges and joys were his family. Despite the ups and downs, they endured, and he was proud of them all. He especially cherished the time spent with his loving granddaughter, Maddie—from long talks in the shop and playing hide-and-seek to her Wednesday night sleepovers.

Operating the small farm, raising sheep and horses, and raising a couple of kids were among the most pleasurable activities in his life, along with hunting and woodworking. Leroy enjoyed sharpening his shooting skills with his various guns, even making a black powder rifle and using it to hunt deer outside his back door. Small engine repair became his hobby after retirement, keeping him busy until he developed a great interest in geology, checking on earthquakes daily. Leroy held his preaching and teaching as the most important expression of his love and devotion to his God, Jehovah. It gave him great pleasure to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He hoped to be resurrected to a paradise earth to serve Jehovah again in the near future. Some of his favorite scriptures were Psalm 103:8–17.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons, Matthew (Debra Jo) of Pulaski, WI, and Joe (Jill) of Bonduel, WI; daughters Michelle (Jeff) Caelwaerts of Sheboygan, WI, and Lisa (Tony) Hughes of Sheboygan, WI. He is also survived by two brothers, Mark (Diedra) of Jupiter, Florida, and Michael (Julie) of Oshkosh, WI. Leroy was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Anna; his sister, Maryann; and his son, Timothy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Shawano Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, N4764 Willow Lane, Shawano, WI 54166, with visitation from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
