March 13, 1944 – January 5, 2026
Lester Raymond "Butch" Hein, age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at home. Born on March 13, 1944, in Shawano to the late Raymond and Adeline (Schmeisser) Hein. After graduating from Shawano High School with the class of 1962, he went on to continue his education in Barber School. Later Butch worked at the REN Parks in Clintonville and had his own Barber shop later in Red River. He served proudly in the National Guard. Butch worked for Deys construction company and Morning Glory of Shawano. Butch retired after working for 27 years at Fort Howard Paper Mill. On March 31, 2018, he was united in marriage to Mary Mullen LeMere at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was a faithful member of the church and was an usher for over 50 years. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, deer hunting and fishing. Lester was an avid Packers and Brewers fan and always made time to watch the games.
Butch is survived by: his wife of 8 years, Mary Hein-LeMere; his children Rodney Hein and Michael Hein; his step-children, Jeremy (Tracie) LeMere, Holly (Kevin) Kaminski, Jason (Michelle) LeMere, Heather (Bobby) Hintz and Heidi LeMere; his grandchildren; Hannah (Jason) Heinz and Gunnar Hein; his step-grandchildren, Analis, Eden, Olivia, Portor, Siena, Chloe, Autumn, Lilly, Quinn, Brita, Bennet, Owen; his step-great-grandson, Elliot. He is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Adeline.
A funeral service for Butch will be held at 11:00 am on Friday January 9, 2026, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Pastor Andrew Zobel officiating. Visitation will begin on Thursday January 8, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home starting from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again at church from 9:30 am until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted by the Shawano AMVETS at the church before procession to Woodlawn Cemetery for Burial.
