Lester L. Moede, age 91 of Shawano died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at his home. He was born December 2, 1926 in Bonduel, son of the late Louis and Martha (Dehn) Moede. He was united in marriage on August 17, 1950 to Luella A. Eckert at Zion Methodist Church in Bonduel. Lester was a partner in Moede and Sons Inc. plumbing and heating, retiring in 1988. He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano and in the past served on several boards. Lester served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands. He was a member of Shawano American Legion, the 40&8 and the D.A.V. Lester enjoyed fishing, football, cooking, time spent at the cottage on Shawano Lake and breakfast at the Home Plate Restaurant.
Lester is survived by: two daughters, Pamela (Moede) Laurinton of California and Beverly Moede of Appleton; two grandchildren, Kurt and Steven; one brother, Harvey Moede of Shawano; nephews and niece, Scott (Sue) Moede, Jayne VanOss and Ed Moede; as well as great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Luella; his parents; one brother, Warren Moede; and two sisters-in-law, Ila Moede and Donna Moede.
Funeral services for Lester will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Dr. Timm Griffin officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post #117. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church or School and the Shawano County Humane Society.
