Lisa E. Dickenson, Wēskenōhsaeh "Little Bird", age 62, of Keshena passed away peacefully at her home on Monday May 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. Lisa was born on September 17, 1962, and raised by the late Dennison Dickenson and Irene Dickenson. She graduated from Menominee Indian High School and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in arts and education. Lisa started working at the Menominee Tribal School in 1991 as an art teacher then a librarian for 34 years. She was a devoted teacher; who enjoyed teaching her students how to be close with their heritage. Lisa deeply loved her significant other for over 45 years, Joseph "Joe" Besaw, Sr., whom she had eternal patience with. She was known in Indian Country for her beadwork and going to Pow Wow's. Lisa loved reading and game nights with her grandchildren. She was a creative woman who was outgoing and spontaneous. Lisa was loved and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Lisa is survived by: her mother Irene; her children, Lori Beth Besaw, Joshua James (Lindsay) Besaw and Joseph Allen Besaw, Jr; grandchildren, Jamison, Joshua, Derek, Darnell, Olivia and Jaren; siblings, Michelle Dickenson, Michael Dickenson, Jeffrey Dickenson and Lori (Craig) Corn; her Besaw siblings, Gary, Kelly, Linea and Carolyn; her special sisters, Deb and Betsy; special cousins Terri "Bucks" Webster, Ronna and Marci ; God child Tamerin Dickenson; her special game night nieces and nephew, Corryn, Kelsey, Gabe and Jesse. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lisa is preceded in death by her hubby, Joe; her dad Dennison Dickenson; her father Simon Latender; brothers, Kenny John LaTender and Mark LaTender; grandma, Evelyn; best friend, Lynette Wychesit-Turney; and niece, Mindy Michelle.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday May 29, 2025, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Center starting on Wednesday May 28, 2025, from 2:00 pm until the time of service on Thursday. Burial will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery following the service.
