Lore Prien, 98, died Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Shawano Place Assisted Living.

She was born August 26, 1926, in Sheboygan, WI, to the late Herman and Erna Voss. They moved to the United States from Germany in 1926 in hopes of a better life where they had 3 children. In 1932, the family moved back to Germany because of raging unemployment in the US.

Lore married Carl Prien on January 17, 1947. They had a son, Karl Prien. Seven months later the family fled Eastern Germany because of Russian occupancy and came to the US living with relatives in Kohler, WI. After several moves, they settled in Two Rivers where Lore took classes to become a nurse's aide at Two Rivers Hospital. She enjoyed taking care of patients, cooking, knitting, going to the family cottage on Wilke Lake and spending time with her 3 grandchildren.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Evelyn Prien of Shawano; 3 grandchildren: Kurt and Jodi Prien, Kevin and Dawn Prien, Carl and Lisa Prien; 5 great-grandchildren: Collin, Julia, Austin (Chantelle), Lily and Addison.

Lore was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a brother, Guenther (Ruth) Voss; and a sister, Rose Marie (Ray) Kamps.

A private family service will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Two Rivers.
