Obituary

Lorraine I. Retzlaff Kriescher, age 84 of Shawano, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Shawano. Born on February 22, 1930 in Shawano, she was the daughter of the late William and Barbara Rose (Rambo) Seidletz. Lorraine was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano and later confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Mattoon. On June 12, 1948 she was united in marriage to Edgar Retzlaff, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1975. On May 22, 1999 Lorraine married Paul Kriescher. Lorraine worked at Weber's Mill and the Shawano Laundry Mat. She also worked as a waitress and cook for Ed Bonds and Spiffy's as well as the L&L Ranch Restaurant which she also manager for several years. Lorraine also worked as a food demonstrator at T&C and Country Store grocery stores. In her earlier years, Lorraine played second base for the All Women's Baseball Team in Shawano and was involved in many community organizations. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and canning. Her generosity was evident especially when sharing recipes, vegetables, fruits and pies with others. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and also enjoyed dancing. Lorraine had a very special friend, Ben Hartwig, who stood up in her wedding to Paul and meant the world to her. Lorraine is survived by: her loving husband, Paul; 3 sons, Edgar (Violet) Retzlaff, Jr. of Shawano, Rick (Mary) Retzlaff of Shawano, Richard (special friend, Patricia Baldwin) Retzlaff of Appleton; 2 daughters, Linda (Bruce) Boerst of Cecil, Brenda (Alan) Thomas of Shawano; a step son, Paul Kriescher, Jr. of Denver, CO; and a step daughter, Ann (Tony) Goerl of Neenah. She is further survived by: 13 grandchildren, Theresa (Joel) Novitski, Tim (Tara) Retzlaff, Angela Retzlaff, Jennifer Buth, Tiffani (Scott) Kimball, Nate (fiancé, Krystin Ellis) Retzlaff, Andrew (Teresa) Boerst, Rachel Boerst, Anthony (Jena) Boerst, Aaron Boerst, Alanna (Tim) Maas, Rachel Kriescher, Rowan Goerl; 14 great-grandchildren, Zachary (Audra) Bierman, Justin (Gina) Novitski, Nickolas Novitski, Nettie Novitski, Tristan Retzlaff, Kimberly, Danyell, Nevaeh, McKenzie Buth, Lawson Kimball, baby Kimball to be, Julia Boerst, Emily Boerst, Jameson Boerst; and 3 great great-grandchildren, Destiny, Isabella Bierman and Benton Novitski. Also surviving are: a brother, Lenard (Evelyn) Rambo; 2 sisters, Dorothy Koeller, Marjorie Weeks; 13 sisters-in-law, Elnora Herm, Delilah Seehafer, Madge (Russ) Rebolz, Florence Onesti, Bernice Huebner, Helen Kriescher, Betty (John) Kadletz, Mary (Tom) Mueller, Jackie Hutchinson, MaryBeth (Gary) Mayor, Darlene Kriescher, Rose Kriescher, Sue Kriescher; 2 brothers-in-law, Jeff Pecore, Clarence Smits; and 4 God Children, Diane Zoglman, Bobbie Prellwitz, Mike Wegner and Tammy Burr. Lorraine was preceded in death by: her first husband, Edgar Retzlaff; her parents; 4 sisters, Patsy Hagen, Geraldine Smits, Mary Thada, Sally Wegner; 3 brothers, Lester Rambo, Roy Seidletz, Ralph Seidletz; 7 brothers-in-law, Hugh Weeks, Lloyd Wegner, Elmer (Evelyn) Retzlaff, Clarence (Eleanora) Retzlaff, Dave Retzlaff, Bill (Mrytle) Prellwitz, Harry Her; 2 sisters-in-law, Edna (Rueben) Schroeder, Amanda Haukenstead; and a special friend, Leona Pecore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada and the Rev. Aaron Boerst officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday from 4:00-7:30pm and at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the WTCH Sunday Radio. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Shawano Medical Center in Shawano, especially Dr. Qualheim and Nurse Holly Zimmerman.
