Obituary

Dr. Louis "Lou" R. Pryor, Ph.D., CISSP, PMP, passed away quietly with his family by his side on April 29th, 2012, as a result of metastatic melanoma of the brain. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Stefanie Pryor, daughter Stefanie Elisabeth Pryor, son Stefan Pryor and wife, Jennifer, and grandchildren, Sofia and Zane Pryor. Additionally, special consideration and gratitude is offered for his sister-in-law, Uschi Dinger, brother-in-law Winfried Kirchner and most importantly, his sister-in-law, Ingrid Bradford, for all of their support and devotion. Dr. Pryor's long career covered many professional disciplines. He proudly served his country as an artillery officer in the United States Army. He advanced quickly in higher education leadership, from his start as an Associate Professor to becoming Division Chairman, during which his colleagues deemed him a "true advocate for students." Dr Pryor was also a consummate information technology and security expert in the financial, healthcare and medical industries. He was admired and recognized professionally for achievements and contributions to his multiple areas of expertise. Dr. Pryor left a lasting positive impression on all those that experienced his distinguished demeanor, grace and personality. His personal pursuits were as characteristic and eclectic as his personality. He was an accomplished aviator, avid outdoorsman, amateur photographer, fine firearms collector, published author, technology enthusiast and an insatiable reader of books and periodicals. He was a self-taught home builder, electrician, plumber and a true craftsman, whether repairing something small or building an entire home, foundation to roof. As well as his love and devotion to his family, Dr. Pryor was very fond of animals, particularly dogs and cats. Stray animals gravitated to him and a few even became permanent members of his family. His family wishes to express appreciation to the fine healthcare professionals from the Shawano Hospital for identifying the spread of his cancer when the most famous institution in Rochester, Minnesota failed. Additionally, special appreciation goes out to Thedacare Community Hospice and their compassionate staff who made his final moments as dignified as he was in life. At his request, no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please send donations to Community Hospice Foundation; Appleton Medical Center, Attn: Foundation Office; 1818 North Meade Street; Appleton, WI, 54911 in his memory.
