Waupoose
March 9, 1945 – November 25, 2025
Lowell Anthony "Chopper" Waupoose, age 80, of Keshena, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Born in Keshena on March 9, 1945, to the late Alex and Sarah Josephine (Warrington) Waupoose. Chopper had a brief career working in Milwaukee as a machinist before meeting Janet Corn. He was united in marriage to Janet on July 2, 1983 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Keshena. He continued to work at the mill until the loss of his leg. This however didn't stop him from working and worked as a bingo caller, a barber, and a seasoned gambler. Chopper was very musically inclined and was able to play the fiddle and the guitar. He loved hunting and did so every year until his early 60's. He could light up a room with his jokes and could get a rise out of anyone. Making people laugh at the most inopportune times was his specialty. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was his world and he will be deeply missed.
Lowell is survived by: his daughter, Michelle Peters ; grandchildren, Marisha Peters, John Peters Jr., James Peters; Great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jaxon Peters; his godchildren Michael Waupoose and Derrick Corn, his sister, Rosemary Gengler, his first "baby girl" Cheryl (Jeff) Lebakken, Brother-In Laws; Warren Wilber Sr. and Greg Grinhaug; his sister-in-law, Sharon Waupoose. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by; his wife Janet Waupoose. His parents; his daughter, Jeri Corn; special son, Robert Corn; his siblings,, Gordon "Phillip" Waupoose, Gloria "Midge" Herrera, Romilda "Mousie" Wilson, Delores "Sister" Koszarek Sr., Alex "Oscar" Waupoose Jr., LeRoy "WoodChuck" Waupoose, Irvin "Wimpy" Waupoose Sr., Leila "Chip" Rabideaux, Everette "Butch" Waupoose Sr., Patricia "Totchie" Hayes, Ivan "Sonny" Waupoose Sr, Antionette "Tudy" Wilber, Leatha "HoneyGirl" Grinhaug, Jerome "HoneyBoy" Waupoose, Xavier "Poncho" Waupoose; and three in infancy, Vivian, Kenneth and Edward Waupoose; his god child DJ Rabideaux;
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday December 4, 2025, at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Burial will be held in the spring. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm at St. Michael's Parish Hall until the time of service.
