Obituary

On Sunday, March 14, 2021 our family and community lost a humble man. In life and now in death, he would not want us to focus on the sadness of death, but instead focus on the happiness in our lives.

Lyle L. Grosskopf was born on June 14, 1943 to the late Clarence "Spitz" and Mabel (Blumreich) Grosskopf. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol "Jean" Schreiber on June 20, 1964 in Shawano, WI, and together they had two children, Bud and Jayna.

Lyle was a very active member of his local community; his generosity and thoughtfulness will forever live on through the lives he impacted. Together, with his brother Ron, Lyle helped bring a Ducks Unlimited Chapter to Gresham as well as the WI Deer Hunters Association. Lyle was also an avid supporter of the Gresham Dollars for Scholars Foundation. Throughout Lyle's adult life he was dedicated to the BABA program, where he enjoyed announcing their games and was also inducted into the Hall of Fame. During Lyle's free time he enjoyed being with his great-grandkids, visiting local casinos, tinkering in his garage, working with his tractor, as well as deer hunting. He worked for CR Meyer for 35 years and currently held the position of Gresham Village President. Although Lyle has had many accomplishments and achievements in his life, there are far too many to list them all.

Lyle was a devoted husband of 56 years; together, Lyle and Jean enjoyed watching local sporting events, going out for dinner, spending Packer game days with Danny and Mattie Stoehr, and enjoying each other's company. He also leaves behind his two children Lyle II "Bud" (Beth) Grosskopf and Jayna (Tom) Jung; his grandchildren Sam (Melissa), Tyler (Brittany), Misti, Sammi (Tony), Lyle III "Trey" (Taylor), Shae (Adam), Destiny (Thomas), Tomi Jo (Tyler), and Bailey; his great-grandchildren: Axyl, Briell, Scarlett, Hunter, Addyson, Blake, Brock, Kyera, Aralyn, Jailyn, McKaylyn, Jaxtyn, Taylyn, Brystal, Bryson, Brynleigh, Brody and Brentley; and one brother, Ron (Eldean) Grosskopf.

Lyle will join his parents and brother, Allen Grosskopf, in Heaven where they will spend their days enjoying happy hour with a Manhattan in hand.

Funeral services for Lyle will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church – Hermansfort with Rev. Steven Conradt officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial's may be made in Lyle's name to the charity of your choosing.

Lyle,

My husband, my soulmate, my best friend. There won't be a day that goes by that I won't think of you. I will love you always.         ~Jean

A limb has fallen from the family tree.

I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me."

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.

The good life I lived while I was strong.

Continue on my legacy, I am counting on you.

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.

Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small.

Go on with your life, don't worry about falls.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.

Until the day comes we're together again.
