Lynn Marie "Che-Che" Placko, age 75 of Nichols, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021in Neenah.  Lynn was born on May 31, 1946 to the late Richard and Olive (Neconish) Zimmerman in Keshena.  She was born and raised on the Menominee Reservation until the age of 11 when her family moved to Chicago.  She attended Holy Name Cathedral and continued her education at UW Green Bay and College of the Menominee Nation.  Lynn was united in marriage to Jeff Placko on July 7, 1977 in Keshena.  She worked in the tribal offices, sewing factories, machine shops and owned her own construction business.  She was the first recognized Native American woman to start a construction company.  Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children, keeping her home and cooking.  She loved fishing, going to the casino, sewing, cooking, berry picking and helping her family when in need.  We miss her already and always will.

She is survived by: her husband Jeff, of nearly 44 years; her daughters, Diane Mason and Rebecca Mason; numerous grand and great grandchildren; and one sister, Garnett Gajewski.  She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: one son, Gordon Mason; one daughter, Laura Mason; two grandchildren, Jamie Casper and Jesse Bublitz; and four brothers and  one sister.

A funeral mass for Lynn will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be at Swedberg Funeral Home from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 and again on Thursday, June 24 at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the procession leaves for church at 12:15 p.m.
