Obituary

Marcus L. "Mike" Jesse, age 73, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Shawano. Mike was born on September 8, 1944 in Shawano, son of the late Roy and Evelyn (Post) Jesse.  In 1962, he graduated from New Ulm High School in Minnesota and then attended Mankato State College.  On September 24, 1966, Mike was united in marriage to Virginia "Ginny" Brodhagen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel.  Mike also attended school for Emergency Medical Technician training as well as Law Enforcement training and worked as a part-time officer for the Shawano Co. Sheriff's Dept. from 1967-1969 and for the Shawano City Police Dept. from 1969-1982, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.  He worked for the Shawano Ambulance from 1971-1981 and was the City of Shawano Forester from 1978-1982. He owned and operated Wolf River Taxidermy from 1982-1992 and ended his career as the Coroner for Shawano County from 1999 until his retirement in 2015.  Mike enjoyed ham radio in his free time as well as hunting, golfing, and making wine.  He also enjoyed all the landscaping Ginny did in the yard and he loved watching the birds that came to visit.
Mike is survived by: his loving wife of 51 years, Ginny; one daughter, Rev. Mary Iverson; two grandchildren, Rachel and Sam; numerous nieces and nephews including, niece, Debra (David) Adams and nephew, Bryan (Renee) Schneider both of MN.  He is further survived by:  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David Schneider, Walt Bestul, Dorothy Brodhagen, Mary and Jim Egen and Chris and Dick Klemens; as well as his four legged friend, Daisy Mae.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Sharon; brother-in-law, Richard Brodhagen; and sister-in-law, Carol Bestul.
Memorial services for Mike will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Sol Grosskopf officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Thursday, November 30 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
